Life is full of drama, why not join the club?

The Monte Vista Theatre Arts Department is comprised of six parts: Theatre Arts 1, Theatre Arts 2, Theatre Arts 3, Play Production, Stage Crafts, and Drama Club. We work together to put on three productions a year; a fall comedy, a winter drama, and a spring musical. The object of the Drama Club is to heighten school interest in the area of the performing arts. The club will support all Monte Vista drama productions, including plays and improvisational comedy.

WINTER SHOW 2026

MV Performing Arts Proudly Presents:

Tracks and The Cinderella Syndrome
Thursday, January 15 & Friday, January 16
7:00 p.m.
Al Gentile Theater
Tickets: $5 or free with ASB

Audiences are invited to experience an evening of thought-provoking and imaginative theatre as the Winter Show presents two compelling one-act plays: Tracks and The Cinderella Syndrome.

In Tracks, a group of strangers find themselves trapped in a grimy subway station with no memory of how they arrived. Their watches have stopped, their belongings are minimal, and each insists they come from a different city. When the unsettling truth is revealed—that they are all dead—the group must confront their past choices and determine which departing train leads to salvation… and which leads somewhere far darker. As the train approaches, faith, fear, and reflection collide in this suspenseful exploration of morality and the unknown.

Balancing the intensity of Tracks is The Cinderella Syndrome, a fresh and witty reimagining of the classic fairy tale. Rather than focusing on magic and romance, this play examines family dynamics, self-discovery, and the transition from adolescence to maturity. With humor and heart, it offers a modern take on destiny, transformation, and finding one’s identity—perfectly suited for middle and high school audiences.

The playwright has received national recognition, including the A.A.T.E. Distinguished Play Award and the Indiana Arts Commission NEA Master Artist Fellowship.

FALL 2025 DRAMA

MV Performing Arts Proudly Presents:

Look Homeward, Angel
By Ketti Frings - from the novel by Thomas Wolfe
Thursday, November 6 – Saturday, November 8
7:00 p.m.
Al Gentile Theater
Students/Seniors: $8
Adults: $15

Winner! 1958 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
Winner! Best American Play - 1957-58 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award
"One of the finest plays in American dramatic literature." - The New York Post

An authentic American classic, this powerful and vital play captures the sardonic humor and the grief, both private and universal, of Wolfe's novel about a youth coming of age. Concentrating on the last third of Wolfe's story, the play vividly portrays Eugene Gant; his mother, who is obsessed by her material holdings and who maintains barriers against the love of her family; his father, a stonecutter imprisoned by his failures; and the brother who never breaks away.
