OVERVIEW
As of December 6, 2023, all SRVUSD High Schools are posting the same messaging (CLICK HERE) about our Attendance Policies. There are also site-specific guidelines about tardies and the process for leaving school early/arriving late. Please read the document linked above thoroughly. Some highlights, changes, and reminders:
1) We can accept phone calls and written/emailed notes from parents/caregivers to excuse an absence.
2) Students MUST sign out when leaving campus during the school day, and MUST sign in when arriving late or returning from being out. Leaving campus without signing out and a parent call is considered a CUT and recorded in the student's attendance records. Monte Vista is a CLOSED campus and students MAY NOT leave the campus without an approved pass during lunchtime or any other time during the school day. Please see our website for a map of campus boundaries. Oak Hill Park is off campus.
3) Students who are absent for a reason other than illness, but who have been cleared by a parent, will be marked UNEXCUSED in their permanent record. This is not the same as a CUT. UNEXCUSED absences will not result in further disciplinary action.
4) Students who wish to correct an attendance error made by their teacher must submit THIS ABSENCE CORRECTION FORM within 2 school days of the error.
