Coach Mike Davis’s journey at Monte Vista High School is remarkable. Starting as a volunteer team parent alongside his wife Karla, he transitioned into a role as a distinguished coach, leaving a lasting impact on both the athletes and the community.

Throughout his tenure, Coach Davis's teams achieved remarkable success in cross country, securing six NCS team championships and producing top individual NCS runners multiple times. Additionally, they attained three CIF Div 1 top ten finishes, establishing the fastest team times in program history.  Under his leadership, Monte Vista qualified teams or individuals for the CIF cross country meet every year.  In track, Coach Davis's distance runners rewrote the record books, taking down numerous long held marks and consistently placing at the top in EBAL competitions. 
 
The recognition Coach Davis received throughout his coaching career reflects the impact he made on his athletes and the sport. From being honored as the San Ramon Valley Times Coach of the Year in 2007 to being voted as an NCS Honor Coach in 2017 and ultimately being selected as the California Coaches Association XC Coach of the Year in 2015, his contributions to the sport and his athletes have been widely celebrated.
 
Coach Davis's legacy extends beyond the wins and accolades. His coaching style, characterized by positivity and inclusivity, attracted athletes of all abilities, creating consistently large teams and fostered lifelong passions for running among its members.  His imprint on the Monte Vista athletic community will be felt for years to come.
