Ron Hirschman
Coach Ron Hirschman was the Monte Vista Women's Varsity Basketball Coach for 26 years. During his time, the women's program rose to prominence winning 7 EBAL titles, appearing in 24 NCS playoffs, including the last 22 straight years. They played in 7 NCS finals winning 2 championships. In 8 Norcal tournaments, they played in 2 Nor Cal Championships winning once, and 1 State title appearance in 2009. The 2009 team was inducted into The Monte Vista Hall of Fame in its inaugural year as the first female Norcal Championship team in the history of Monte Vista athletics. During his tenure, the women's program averaged 20 wins per year. Ron finished his career with 519 wins, more than any other coach in Monte Vista Basketball history. He was named San Ramon Valley Times Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1993, Tri-Valley Herald Best of the Best in 1997 and Cal High Sports Women's Coach of the Year for the state of California in 2009. When asked what made him most proud of his program, his answer was always the same: "The Girls.” As good as they were on the court they were even better people off. In 26 years, his teams never fell below a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
