Julie Radder, a 1990 graduate, helped lead Monte Vista Girls Tennis through one of the strongest periods in the program’s history from 1987 to 1990. She made an immediate impact, winning consecutive East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) singles championships as a freshman and sophomore. As a junior in 1989, she had one of the standout seasons of her high school career, winning both the EBAL singles title and the CIF North Coast Section (NCS) Doubles Championship.

Radder was also a key part of the Mustangs’ team success, helping Monte Vista win back-to-back EBAL team championships in 1989 and 1990. Her accomplishments earned considerable recognition in the local media. She was selected as a local Newspaper Athlete of the Week eight times and was nominated three times for the Herald Girls Fall Athlete of the Year award. Her teammates and coaches also recognized her competitive spirit and leadership, naming her Monte Vista’s Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times during her four years on the varsity team.

After graduating from Monte Vista, Radder accepted an NCAA Division I scholarship to the University of the Pacific, where she played tennis for all four years. She continued to excel at the collegiate level, earning First Team Big West All-Conference honors and Scholar-Athlete recognition in 1992. She finished her Pacific career by being named the University of the Pacific women’s tennis team MVP for the 1993–94 season.

The University of the Pacific holds a special place in her heart, as it was where she met her future husband, who was also a member of the men’s tennis team. Together, they have a daughter, Gabriela, who graduated from Pepperdine University and was recently married.
