Angie Purchio, M.A., AT
Certified Athletic Trainer
Angie is in her third year as Monte Vista’s Certified Athletic Trainer. She covers all sporting events, practices, and supports the overall health of the student-athletes. She attended Hayward High School and then went on to study Kinesiology at CSU Monterey Bay. Once she earned her BS, she went onto Weber State University in Ogden, UT where she received her Masters Degree in Athletic Training. In 2016, she received her National certification and moved back to California where she started working as an Athletic Training Fellow through Saint Mary's College as well as working as an Athletic Trainer at Branham High School in San Jose. She finished the fellowship with Saint Mary's College in May of 2017 and continued to work at Branham High School as the Athletic Trainer for another two years. She is excited to begin her career at Monte Vista.
 
Michael G. Michlitsch, M.D.
Team Physician
Dr. Michlitsch is in his seventh year covering Monte Vista athletics. After earning his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center before completing his subspecialty training with a sports medicine and shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship in Pasadena, CA.
 
His professional expertise is in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, with a surgical specialization in arthroscopic knee, shoulder, and elbow surgery. His goal of patient care centers around the effective return of patients to sports and pain-free activities after their Orthopedic care and rehabilitation.
 
Dr. Michlitsch also serves as an associate team physician at St. Mary's College.  A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, he is board certified in both Orthopedic Surgery and the subspecialty of Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
